If your visit will involve tests in the intestines or other structures in the abdomen-
You may be asked to refrain from eating or drinking after dinner the night before your test. This restriction would include water, coffee, chewing gum and mints.
Patients having any type of surgery-
Especially in which general anesthesia will be used – or undergoing a peripheral angiogram – will typically be asked not to eat or drink anything after midnight, and not to smoke for 24 hours before the procedure. There may also be restrictions on some medications.
You will receive complete instructions from our office before your procedure.
After you go home from surgery-
You will receive discharge instructions from the hospital staff before you go home. Please call our office at 972.906.1055 with any questions about your instructions.
For family members or caregivers:
Patients undergoing non-invasive diagnostic tests typically will need little or no assistance after their procedure. For more extensive tests and procedures, you will receive instructions on how your family members or caregivers can help speed your recovery.
